@MimmsIV, Esq have you tried any doc places for hunting up your ways. Only place I've had a look in so far is Tangihua forest and its rugged as **** in there and the goats are a fair way off the tracks..

Not really and not for a long while. I've been spoiled with pork coming to the door. Friends and neighbours usually kill a good variety of species so I get to be lazy.
And then I let work get in the way (stupid I know)

But I have walked pretty much every yard of Russel forest, and a good bit of the Tangihuas, Mangamuks, And all the little non-hunting bush holes around the place.
In the tangihuas used to be you could drive up to the tower and snot as many goats as you could hit, but that's going back a bit.
Mate got back from an easter bowhunt with his boy, got a goat. Private block but backs on to DOC (matataua?), up Twin bridges ways.

But yeah. "Shitty bush for manky goat" pretty much sums up Northland hunting.
Never saw any sign of the legendary rusty forest sika population, and believe me I'd like one of them!
