Always on the prowl for a 22- or 25-303

I'm working far too bloody much and weekends are about five days too short. I did pick myself up another lathe though. Hopefully the last one I'll ever buy. Got a few .45 cal projects for it  also gotta make parts to convert the MEC to load 2.5" and to deprime LP primers rather than the 209s.

And I did go through my brass bucket and deprime/size a whole heap ready for tumbling. (Just have to dig my bloody tumbler out from wherever it is!)
And I did pick up a couple packs of 12ga brass. And a slug mould. So I haven't been entirely useless.

I meant to get along to the arms fair up here but must have been late, drove past and no lights, no music...no signs or anything else either.

If you come across old 12ga tools, especially a roll crimper and brass adjustable shot dipper... shot maker... anything really. Grab it and I'll pay ya. Or an ishapore. (Enfield converted to .410)

Boss has been on a couple deer hunts. One down palmy ways, shot big hind, and got a woodhill ballot (Saw heaps, didn't shoot any) I'm hassling my neighbour to tag along next time he goes south. Private block, infested apparently, the cocky has to honk their horn te get the deer out the road!!

Hah, wrong time wrong place I guess. Though loading brass hulls I need 11ga over powder and 10ga overshot (another lathe project - making punches)

The brass hulls take LP or LR primers. I think I bought the last 209s in the country. But I'm fairly well stocked all round.
Have a couple thousand SR primers I might trade but not in a hurry.

Not bad machines the old colchesters. Jeez if I had a lathe at work, I wouldn't be getting any work done.

This one's a Southbend "Heavy 10". Thirty inches between centres so can fit up all but the longest barrels, and near enough 40mm through the head.
Certainly a step down in size from my other lathes which will swing about 1 and a half foot and a yard and a half long. (Still accurate though, just take time to warm up the bearings. - not so good for quick small one-offs. Bloody brilliant for peeling big chips all day. And that's what I'll make my cannons on )

We try and avoid the city except for gun shops and gun fairs. Been to the whangerai and dargaville fairs. They are good to go to. Was keen on a sweed sniper rifle at the last one but after some research it wasnt a genuine one but made out of all the correct bits
