First possum shoot for the year
« on: »
Had my first possum shoot for the year last night, but the day started differently. First off a mate and I did a clay bird shoot for a hens party. Everyone had a great time and the ladies got to tick something off their bucket list, then it was pack everything up head home and get possum gear ready. I decided to take doggy for his first shoot as well and to my surprise he was perfect. I had thoughts of having to chase him all over the farm or getting scared of the rifle shooting. It was suppressed so I think that helped. I got out to the farm while there was still some light as I like to do a quick recon to see where the stock is and see what the ground is like. I only had a small area to work in but it was still an area that held some possums. I was using my chopper, that's what I call my shortened sportco semi that I've cut and threaded for a suppressor. Its a handy little rifle that's a joy to carry for hours and its still very accurate. All in all a good night and we got 22 possums.

Still doing the possum shooting on the farm and dog is good and knows when we are going so is waiting at the car ready to go every time. Averaging 20 to 25 each time we head out. In the warmer weather we are finding a 50/50 on the ground and in trees. As it gets colder we tend to find them more in the trees. I swap between my chopper and a slazenger 22 I picked up which does the job well
